Michael Johnson - Director Of Instruction
Growing up in Lander, Wyoming, Mike played golf every chance he had. He went on to play college golf for the Utah State Aggies where he earned a bachelor’s degree before turning professional.
He played in one PGA Tour event (1996 Michelob) and one Nike Tour event (1994 Boise Open). In 1994, Mike earned his PGA Class A Membership which he has now held for 25 years. Early in his career he worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at courses in Utah and Florida before taking his first job as a Head Golf Professional in Wyoming.
In 1995 he accepted a position as the Director of Golf at Fawn Lake Country Club in Spotsylvania, Virginia dubbed “Arnie’s Virginia Masterpiece”. In 2002, Mike returned to the Rockies where he was brought on as the Lead Instructor at the Chuck Cook Golf Academy at Red Sky Golf Club in Vail, Colorado. It was there that he discovered his true calling and in 2003 he was certified as a Chuck Cook Golf Academy Instructor.
He has since served as Director of Instruction at the Headwaters Club at Teton Springs in Victor, Idaho and comes to Black Bull after spending the past three seasons as the Director of Instruction at the Central Wyoming Golf Academy at Three Crowns in Casper, Wyoming.
Mike is excited to bring his experience and passion for teaching to the Black Bull community. He will be offering several different programs for both juniors and adults throughout the summer.
