Joey Lovell - Director of Club Operations

Joey Lovell was born in San Diego, California but has spent most of his life in Sandpoint, Idaho as the youngest of four siblings. Golf was introduced to Lovell at the age of 9 while watching the 1997 Masters Tournament with his grandfather. The next day, knowing that his grandson was hooked, golf lessons were purchased. Lovell’s goal of playing Division I golf was achieved when he earned a spot playing for Boise State University. After college, he followed his dream of competing professionally on the National Pro Tour.

Lovell’s work experience started with an outside service position at Hidden Lakes Golf Resort in Sandpoint. In 2006, Hidden Lakes underwent a complete redesign and was opened in 2008 as The Idaho Club, a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, where Lovell assumed the position as First Assistant. Upon receiving a degree in business, Lovell was promoted to Head Golf Professional for both the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

While Hidden Lakes was being remodeled, Joey took his talents to caddying, working at one of the most popular golf resorts in the country, Bandon Dunes. With over 12,000 rounds per month on four championship golf courses, there was a lot of learning to be had. Lovell also helped open Streamsong Golf Resort in Florida as one of the first caddies during his off season in the northwest.

In 2013, Lovell moved to Bozeman, Montana to further his golf career by joining the professional staff at Black Bull. After two successful years as the First Assistant Golf Professional, Lovell decided he would take a step outside the golf industry and get into technology sales. While gaining invaluable knowledge about technology, Lovell’s real passion is the golf world. In the Winter of 2017, Lovell came back to us as the Director of Club Operations and he couldn’t be happier to be back.

Joey’s Swing Philosophy: I believe that each golfer has their own individual unique swing. I hope to teach the understanding of the mechanics while working with your own swing. I feel the importance of practicing the short game will have an immediate impact on a person trying to enjoy the game.
