With 320 sunny days a year and up to seven months of golfing weather, Black Bull enjoys more prime golf-playing days than nearby Big Sky. However, it’s really Black Bull’s central location and diversity of recreational activities that create maximum appeal.
Summer in the Rockies means lots of fun in the sun. Minutes from Black Bull is some of the world’s best trout fishing, on the famous Gallatin, Yellowstone and Madison rivers. Rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout are abundant and anglers of all ages and abilities enjoy fishing these waters. The mountain ranges surrounding the Gallatin Valley offer spectacular settings for hiking and camping. Bird watching, horseback riding—and, of course, golf—are also popular pastimes.
In the winter, deep snows bring legendary skiing conditions. The local “cold smoke” powder at Bridger Bowl is only 45 minutes from Black Bull, and Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin are both about one hour away. Cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing are other great ways to spend a winter day, and kids love sledding at Peet’s Hill in a local Bozeman park.
Mother Nature’s untouched geologic and wildlife wonders abound only an hour south in Yellowstone, the nation’s first national park. The Park’s thermal activity—including geysers like the famous Old Faithful—is sure to astound. Bison herds dominate the spring and summer seasons, while bugling elk make majestic appearances during the fall rut and wolf packs steal across breathtaking winter landscapes.
